Technology Support F.A.Q. - Questions and Answers

I am being asked to "Log in for Internet Access". What can I do?
Ensure that the username is typed "student" and that the password box is grayed out. If the password box is not grayed out, you may have an older version of the program installed. Click OK to log in. If that does not work and you are able to type a password, leave the username as "student" and leave the password field blank.

I am having trouble viewing almost any webpage on my computer, why?
This could be a result of a couple of different problems. The easiest solution that we know is to try to power cycle your modem, computer, and router. To do this you would first shut down the computer. Turn off your modem and unplug all cords from the back of the modem. Also unplug all the cords from your router (leave them near the ports so you do not lose track of which goes where). Wait five (5) minutes and plug everything back into the correct ports and power back up.

What if Content Protect is not allowing me to view pages for a test or school?
If you are being blocked from an educational website whether it is a part of Blackboard, Lincoln Interactive, Compass Learning, or any other school related website - the best way to get the site working is to submit a "Request Override" during school business hours. We will then review each website and approve the request usually within a couple of hours. You should be able to view the page after your next computer reboot. If this does not fix this problem, please call the school.

What happens if I lose sound on my computer?
Check that you have the speaker turned up and have no headphones plugged into your headphones jack. Click on the speaker icon on the bottom right hand of the start menu and ensure your sound is not muted. If you still have no sound, restart and then try to play a separate song or audio file on your computer.

Why am I having trouble viewing a test or worksheet?
Make sure you have all the most up to date software installed on your computer. This includes Adobe Reader 8, Adobe Shockwave, Adobe Flash, and JAVA. You can find Reader, Shockwave, and Flash all under the download section at http://www.adobe.com and you can download the newest JAVA engine at http://www.java.com .
